Associate Lawyer

Luke was admitted to the legal profession in 2020. Upon admission, he joined Melasecca Zayler and practices exclusively in criminal law.

 

Luke was mentored by Rob Melasecca, and together they worked on, and appeared in countless matters in all jurisdictions of Australia, including homicides, drug importation and trafficking matters, sexual offences and financial crimes.

Luke now has his own practice of indictable and summary files and regularly appears in the Magistrates’ and County Court in bail applications, plea hearings and interlocutory applications. He also instructs and assists Counsel in the preparation of complex criminal matters in the County Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

Luke is highly regarded by many Counsel, who value his work ethic, knowledge of the law and legal drafting skills. He has a particular interest in quasi-criminal law applications, including suppression orders, firearm prohibition application appeals, s501 migration advice and infringement law.

 

Luke has previously volunteered at the Fitzroy Legal Service and Flemington and Kensington Legal Centre.

 

Luke was recognized by his peers as a ‘Rising Star’ in the 2024 Doyle’s Guide.
